Rolex is best known for their automatic movements however the Crown has had a long history with manual wind watches, some of which are considered to be highly collectible today. The Rolex Oysterdate Precision ref. 6494 was manufactured with several dial variants, all of which are interesting in their own right, but the black honeycomb dial is by far the most beautiful and collectible. The term "honeycomb" comes from the heavy cross-hatched texture that makes up the main portion of the dial, which is then accompanied by beautiful gold markers and applied logos that elevate the simple manual wind wristwatch to a work of art on the wrist.

CASE & BRACELET

The impressive case has only been very lightly polished in the past and retains very thick and symmetrical lugs that exhibit minimal signs of previous use. The smooth stainless steel bezel shows signs of being very lightly polished in the past and displays no signs of use. The original Rolex "Swiss Made" Oyster rivet stretch bracelet with 60 end pieces is stamped 4/56 and is in exceptional condition, the bracelet retains 13 links that show no stretch from use.

DIAL & HANDS

The original black "honeycomb" dial with applied gold markers and logo is absolutely stunning and in remarkably well-preservced condition. The dial itself shows minimal aging and retains a very strong texture. The applied gold markers and logo also remain in very good condition with light and appropriate signs of age. The radium lume plots and in excellent condition and have aged to a dark patina and display only light degradation in some of the lume plots. The original radium gilt hands match the dial perfectly and remain in exceptional condition. The roulette date wheel is original and charming, adding to the desired vintage aesthetic on the watch.
