Berg
Berg was founded in 1909 by Wilhelm Beuttler in Pforzheim, Germany, and was registered in 1927. They produced jewelry, pocket, and wristwatches. After being destroyed during World War II, the production plant was re-established in Rosenfeld, Germany. Berg produced watches for the German military and their product lines were named Berg, Bergana and Aquarex. Stainless steel was in high demand during WWII, therefore it is very likely that a stainless steel watch would only have been produced for high-ranking officials or officers of the German military.
Berg Bruchsicher Stainless Steel
This circa late 1930s to mid 1940s Berg wristwatch is indeed a VERY unique timepiece! The beige dial is marked Berg and Bruchsicher (shatterproof) and features Arabic numerals, baton indices and minute marks, with blued-steel hands and a sub-second dial. This watch has a fancy crown and the crystal is in good condition. The 22 x 30.5 mm stainless steel case is an embossed art deco design and the bracelet is a stainless steel expandable bracelet (fitting any wrist size) also featuring an art deco design on the borders.
This is an excellent historical wristwatch to add to any watch collection, especially a WWII or other military collection! It is in great condition and keeps excellent time! The expandable bracelet is particularly attractive and very smooth, with the ability to fit a large variety of wrists.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended. Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
