DATE: Mid-Century, c.1950

Stunning mid century cocktail ring set with an eye-wateringly vibrant Colombian emerald centre and an array of gleaming white diamonds. The principal stone is a 1.59 carat square emerald cut emerald, certified as natural (beryl) with intense green colour and only minor oil treatment. The colour and clarity are nothing short of exceptional. You'd never know it unless you saw the picture on the certificate, but this ring was initially created as a brooch - someone's rather cleverly added a band while preserving the original head and shoulder elements. It bears French control marks to the outer shank, indicating 18 karat white gold and platinum, the original brooch dating from the 1950s.
